I agree wholeheartedly! If everything in me is saying slow down, take a break, I find trying to override that energy is usually a waste of time. Whatever I manage to get done isn’t usually very good and often needs redoing… and I never want writing to feel like a job I dread. Protecting and cultivating joy around our creative work is a mindful effort that requires and includes breaks. Creativity moves through seasons/cycles, I think, so honoring those is a good thing! Glad you enjoyed your travels, Sarah. And that you’re feeling better!
Thanks Maria. And you’re right, protecting and cultivating joy around writing is important. Sometimes, it’s good to think of it as a job because it can take some of the emotion out of it (for me, anyway) and you just put in the work.
Funnily enough I was thinking about this tension the other day after reading something here (for reason, I cannot share the post on this comment, will send via DM).
Yes, it’s an excellent point. I’m always hoping to find the sweet spot between diligence and feeling fueled by writing, not the other way round. I can’t wait to read, Sarah! Thank you 🙏
Oh, no. I’m back and in the full swing of things. This term was particularly rough with covering teachers and lots of changes coming from up top. But now that I’m no longer covering, I do feel more sane. Hahahaha.
Oh I am glad that you are feeling more sane. I don't think administers always realise how much additional pressure cover adds, especially when things are already busy.
Sorry for your bout with infection. But the vacation sounds fantastic. I remember that Beckham red card vividly. It was stupid on his part, but Simone was absolutely acting his ass off, the South American dark art. Enjoy Hong Kong’s summer!

Well, welcome back. I hope you're feeling better all around. Sometimes a forced break from technology is just what the doctor ordered!
Thanks Lani! Not sure if you are still travelling/on holiday or not, if so, hope you are managing to relax.

I remember it well too! You’re right, the rolling around by Simone was ridiculous.
Semi-linked. Did you see the tackle at the final this weekend by Fernández? Insane!
I agree breaks are so good. The mind feels less cluttered.
They really are, my brain certainly feels less cluttered than it did back in early June! Thanks for reading, Shital :)
