I love "the dull glow of progress". 😊 That's how I feel about my morning pages. I write three pages, every day, whether or not I have anything to say. The act of writing is hugely gratifying in itself, then the growing mound of paper, thoughts, memories and ideas feels like such a reward. No inspiration required, just habit and an early alarm. Do keep writing! I'd love to read your book!

I totally agree about morning pages. It feels a win when I get them done, and I certainly think less now about what (rubbish) I’m writing in them.

Haha and thank you for offering to read my book. Although I think for now, it will stay safely locked away on a hard drive but you never know, if a publisher is desperate for a fantasy novel, I’m there! Can you believe that I even put a password on the file?? As if I thought someone would come across my disorganised hard drive and then think well this file must be worth something 😂

I do the same with my pages! I hide them away in a box, as though anyone would even be able to read my scrawl in the bizarre circumstance that they had the slightest interest in ever reading them! 😂

Offer's still open to be an early reader of your words, though, whether it's the old locked-away book or anything else that you might pen in the future. 😊

Thank you, that's really generous. And I'd more be than happy to read your work too :)

This resonates so much. I appreciate you calling out the exciting, miraculous nature of those bursts of inspiration, while also balancing it with the much more common day-to-day inspiration that comes through practicing your craft.

Thank you Margaret, I still sometimes don’t appreciate those bursts of inspiration enough, but I’m better than I was!

It's cute that you thought you needed to feel inspired again to write, but at the same time, you're not alone! I have to push myself to not wait for the right moment. And I'm glad you published it, and yes, it counts, because I did that too. But I went back and edited it several times because of the mistakes I missed, etc, etc. It's not easy to write a book and then be brave enough to put it out there. I hope you do it again 😍

Thanks Lani - putting yourself out there can be challenging. It's funny as reading that story back there were a few chunks where I was like 'this part isn't that terrible' haha! But the majority of it was bad, like REALLY bad!

But as you say, it's about editing, and learning. I am glad that you feel more comfortable in publishing your work too.
