If I remember correctly, the headteacher had booked the company to come in after seeing the organiser/actor do a similar workshop somewhere else.
Having said that, I did move to another school, so although I did start to think, do I want to continue doing this, I didn’t leave for a few more years 😵💫
Oh and yes, I hope that my friend takes a job with the woman who only wants to appoint kind and supportive people going forward. It’s something I will be looking for as I start to apply for work too. Still, it’s kinda tricky as a lot of workplaces (management) will claim to have positive working environments, but people on the ground may think differently.
It's good to hear that you've experienced a memorable training session in your time as a teacher. Reading this, I can only really remember the truly terrible ones. There was one in particular where we had to throw balls of paper across the room and the trainer was suggesting this as a technique to be used in the classroom (I can't fully remember the context). Suffice to say, I never did.
I hope your friend got the job with the leader who only wanted to appoint kind and supportive people. That sounds like an excellent basis for a positive work environment!
Oh I remember doing a paper ball task in some training too!
I also recall using a ridiculous amount of post-it notes to describe how we felt about X, or reflect on the training day, and how we use something we learned from the day in the classroom 😵💫😬
How funny that it was the training that led to you leaving the job!
They really shot themselves in the foot. 😂
Haha yes!
