Hello,
During my mid-teens when I first started to branch out from listening to boybands (#TakeThatForever), I discovered the French band Air. Seeing as these were the pre-Internet days and I was growing up in the UK, I can only assume that this discovery was due to BBC Radio 1, Smash Hits magazine (RIP), or it was from a compilation CD (such as Now That’s What I Call Music).
Now, over 20 years later from when I first heard ‘Sexy Boy’ and ‘La Femme d'argent’, I was fortunate to see the band play live here in Hong Kong at Clockenflap.
Air helped to expand my electronic musical world and I still turn to their first album Moon Safari (and the rest) when I need familiar chill-out comfort for my ears and soul.
Rumour has it that it was the last time that Clockenflap would be held at Central Harbourfront due to a huge shopping mall that is under construction nearby. Just what Central (and Hong Kong) really needs… another shopping mall. I hope that this is just a rumour and not a reality, but let’s wait and see.
And I’d love to hear what you have been up to over the past few weeks, please let me know in the comments!
However, while I am on the theme of shopping, in late November I did go to a local boutique to look for some Christmas stocking fillers. Thorn and Burrow sell some fabulous Hong Kong themed items as well as lots of other products (many items are designed in the city and then manufactured in Mainland China). Here are a few things that I picked up:
This is my last post for 2024 as I am taking a few weeks off. Over the Christmas period, I am travelling to see family and hoping to catch up with friends while I am at it. However, I have already started jotting down some ideas for new posts, and I am incredibly excited as my second Substack collaboration will be published on January 2nd! I will share more details about this closer to the date. But in the meantime, here are some of my popular posts from the past 12 months:
See you in 2025!
