HUGE yes to Zero 7 and Hedonism! Both, to me, mean London, heartbreak and incredible happiness.
I would never subject the general public to my singing but a few weeks ago my husband and I did subject our children to a couple of hours of karaoke. They were not happy! Their mood picked up, though, when I sang the line, "You're so fucking special" in Radiohead's brilliant Creep. I was overjoyed, singing one of my all-time favourites, and the boys were happily scandalised by hearing their mother swear!
I hadn’t listened to Skunk Anansie for ages, and then a few months ago, we had some friends visiting and they talking about having seen them play a gig in the UK (not sure when exactly), but we had to put the album Stoosh on right then.
Creep is a fantastic song! And it came out in 1992. That takes me back. And I love how you took your boys to karaoke and sang Radiohead - a great intro to a fantastic album and band!
I still listen to Destiny loads and loads, and it's a favourite. Case in point, my last deliberate listen was two days ago. And I don't often single out specific songs.
☺️ I think Simple Things will always remain one of my favourite albums, but Destiny is something, like you, I deliberately put on regularly. Have you heard some of their more recent stuff?
Up to around Simple Science. But I don't actively remember a lot of it. And not their most recent single/EP releases. I've just found a YouTube playlist that covers most of that ground, so I'll need to catch up with the last 8+ years!
Ah I love Whitney. I can’t bring myself to watch some of the recent documentaries about her actually, as her last few years in particular before her death were so sad to read about at the time.
What a fun post! Some songs really do just tap in to something visceral, and I usually have "soundtracks" to my works to get me in the right headspace. I love The Killers! So many songs by James and Crowded House bring me right back to the early 90s when I was at boarding school. Also, August and Everything After by the Counting Crows was one of those albums where every single song was amazing.

I need to listen to their other work, I really do. And I may do a search for that YouTube playlist!
This is the one I found. :)

And I’m already in love with the song Swimmers
“I have nothing” from the film Bodyguard was one of my favourites as well. Whitney Houston great voice! Nice post Sarah
